Who can attend?
Our courses and events are open to anyone from a voluntary organisation or a community group - whether you are a paid worker, a volunteer, a management committee member, or a service-user. Courses are also open to individuals who are trying to set up a group in their community (our training is not aimed at workers from statutory organisations, but occasionally spaces become free).
How much does it cost?
We strive to put on the highest quality training, and all our trainers are experts in their field. But we keep the course fees low so that everyone can afford to attend. There is a discount for organisations that are members of OCVA, and one place on any short, non-accredited course is free for OCVA members with a turnover of less than £1,000 per year.
OCVA Cancellation Policy
For paid events and non-accredited training: cancellations are allowed up to 24 hours before the event. If less than 24 hours notice is given, the full charge will be made.
For accredited training: Payment for accredited training is due 21 days before the first date of the course. If payment has not been received by this date, OCVA reserves the right to offer your place to someone else.
If you are not able to attend, your place may be transferred to a colleague from the same organisation. The following charges will apply if you wish to cancel a place:
- Up to 21 days in advance – no charge
- 7 – 20 days in advance – 10% of the training fees
- 0 – 6 days in advance – 100% of the training fees*
*This may be waived if OCVA is able to find someone else to take your place. However, if this is not possible, you will be liable for the full amount. In exceptional circumstances the fees may also be waived at the discretion of OCVA. Cancellations must be received in writing or via email to admin@ocva.org.uk.
For free events & training: If a booking is made, and the participant does not attend (or does not cancel their place more than 24 hours in advance) a charge of £10 will be made to cover the costs of admin and catering. An invoice will be sent following the event.
