Support for Social Enterprises

The Government definition of social enterprises is “businesses with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.”

Like any other business, a social enterprise has to compete in the marketplace and earn its income through delivering goods or services which people want to buy. The vital difference is that social entrepreneurs are motivated by providing services to a community rather than distributing profits to shareholders.
