Oxfordshire Parent Partnership Service

(PPO)

Who are we?

A service based at the County Council which offers support to parents/carers of children with Special Educational Needs (SENS).

We provide an impartial information, support, advice and training to parents to enable them to take an informed and effective part in making decisions about their child's education.

We also aim to:

  • Provide an Independent Parental Supporter (IPS) for all parents of children with an SEN who ask for one, regardless of whether the child is on School Action, School Action Plus or Statemented, and whatever the SEN.
  • Provide negotiation and conciliation within the childrens services authority (CSA) and schools, and if necessary, access to a free and neutral regional mediation service.
  • Promote and facilitate an effective and positive partnership between parents and professionals, including consultation.
  • Encourage all those involved with a child with an SEN to seek the child's own views about their education.
  • Work with other agencies and voluntary organisations to improve the service we offer to children with SEN and their parents.
  • Impartial information, support, advice and training to parents.
