Closing the gap between men and women

Oxford Women's Interfaith Network (WIN) is planning a new initiative, provisionally called the Interfaith Gender Action Project (GAP), exploring how best to close the gap between men and women when it comes to issues such as leadership, private relations, health, the environment etc. WIN invites you to a meeting on Wednesday 1 February to discuss the new project.

A message from WIN follows:

Wednesday 1 February, 1.30-3.30pm
The Old Music Hall
106-108 Cowley Road
Oxford OX4 1JE

Please RSVP so that we know numbers.

We are - at this very early stage - thinking in terms of developing an interfaith action learning project exploring how best to close the gap between men and women when it comes to issues such as leadership, private relations, health, the environment etc.
We want to explore what kinds of initiatives and activities could contribute to:

- increasing awareness of faith and gender issues both within Oxfordshire's faith communities and in wider society
- promoting inclusion, respect and well being for women of faith in all walks of life
- improving understanding between men and women in an interfaith context
- influencing policy and practice locally and beyond
- reducing poverty and discrimination

We would like to involve you in thinking this through so that together we can develop a shared sense of purpose and identify key overall priorities, as well as begin to explore what's needed in our own respective organisations, sectors, communities and faith groups.

This invitation arises out of the Oxford Women's Interfaith Network (WIN) project, initially funded with a small grant from Faiths in Action (CDF/ & the former government Department for Communities and Local Government).

We have since been continuing to meet on a voluntary basis and have supported a series of 'Sow and Grow' local food workshops for diverse women of different faiths in Oxford at Barracks Lane Community Garden.
