The ROBIN network is supporting the launch of The Experience Tree on Thursday 31 May, 4.30–6.30pm at Morgan Cole, West Way, Oxford, OX2. The Experience Tree is a project of MacIntyre which provides people with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire with meaningful learning experiences. This helps them gain new skills, grow in confidence and partake in a valuable learning. The free event is a great networking opportunity, a chance to see how your organisation can get involved, and you’ll see and hear first-hand accounts of the impacts of this initiative.

OxOnline aims to bring better broadband connections to Oxfordshire, and is supported by all six local authorities. The project aims to help deliver broadband speeds of up to 24Mb to wide areas of the county and bring significant improvements to the rest of Oxfordshire by the end of 2015. It recognises that broadband speed is important with more people using services online, as well as the significant role to play in developing local communities and businesses.

The Public Involvement Network (PIN) will be the main route for the general public and voluntary groups to influence the new Health and Wellbeing Boards. OCVA has been tasked with setting up a network of voluntary and community groups to link in with the new Police and Crime Comissioners (PCCs) when they are elected by the general public in November. The network will cover the whole area served by Thames Valley Police and is one of 40 or more networks covering all of the police force areas in England and Wales.
These commissioners will be commissioning services in the future such as drug treatment so there will be opportunities for the voluntary sector to bid for providing these services direct to the PCC.

Following on from the OCVA conference on Emerging Health structures, the Public Involvement Network (PIN) will be the main route for the general public and voluntary groups to influence the Health and Wellbeing Board. It will be mainly a virtual network but will nominate representatives to the three partnership boards and invite people and organisations to take part in relevant workshops and discussion that will inform the boards. Big Lottery is calling for people over 50 to help shape an investment that is designed by older people for the benefit of older people and help them decide what to fund. Big wants to invest money in great ideas that will inspire older people most in need to build on their strengths, and make a difference to their lives and their communities.

This summer Creation Theatre Company will run a 'Pay What You Can' ticket system for one performance of The Merchant of Venice on 12 August 2012 at The Said Business School in central Oxford. The initiative seeks to reach and work with community groups, voluntary organisations and people such as NEET's in Oxfordshire. The central idea behind the project is to produce an event that recognises and addresses expanding economic and social divides in Oxfordshire and to begin to create a level of access for those that have traditionally been underserved by the arts.
