Migration Impacts Team

Important Update:

Funding cuts force the OCVA Migration Impacts Project to close ahead of schedule

The Migration Impacts Project is being forced to close six months early. Despite a signed funding agreement with the Department of Communities and Local Government taking it through to March 2011 , OCVA has been informed that there will be no more funding after September 2010. We have been informed that “the Migration Impact Fund is not a priority funding stream in the light of the overall fiscal position set out in the recent Budget”. Along with project partners, OCVA is very disappointed that we will not be able to implement this project to improve the lives of migrants and the local communities in which they have settled.  OCVA is very grateful to the project team for their hard work and enthusiasm and will be extremely sorry to lose them. You can read about the achievements of the project to date by accessing the Year 1 report by clicking here.  If you have any queries about how the closure may affect your organisation or service users, please contact the Project Manager, Tamsin Jewell on 01865 251946 or tamsin.jewell@ocva.org.uk.

The Migration Impacts Team help people who have come to live or work in Oxfordshire from other countries.

Our services aim to:

  • improve migrants access to training, employment and appropriate health and support services
  • establish skills in local communities and amongst service providers for dealing with migrants in a positive way
  • improve community safety and cohesion
  • develop mechanisms to provide an effective voice for migrants within and beyond the project.
