Viewing the Violets
at Chalkhills
and the results of the practical conservation work of WoTHabs –
the local parish conservation group

Sunday March 15th 2009
Please come for a guided walk to view the Violets in bloom in
the County Wildlife Site

Violets grow in profusion in the field which is opened in early May every year to see the Cowslips. If the weather before the walks is clement it may be possible to see Green Hairstreak Butterflies on the day (though they usually don’t appear until late March-early April)
There will be two guided walks, starting at 1.30 pm and 3.00 pm from the south field at Chalkhills (formerly the vineyard at Boze Down).where cars can be parked unless ground conditions prevent this - in this case follow the signs for parking on harder ground! If you are not able to walk to the violets field, please phone to book 4 x 4 transport!

As well as the violets you will be able to see the work that WoTHabs (Whitchurch-on-Thames Habitat Study Group) has been carrying out since last November to help restore the County Wildlife Site ground flora which has been overgrown by too much scrub in recent years

Refreshments will be provided!

For further information, or transport up the hill! please phone Sandra on 0118 984 4031
