A celebration ball for 45 years of rugby in Witney, the first ever Pigstock, a comedy night and a road race are all part of the first ever Big Witney Weekend starting on the 10 September.

The weekend will be based around Witney Rugby Club's Hailey Road Ground where a giant marquee will be in place for Pigstock on Friday night. This event promises an evening of live music, a hog-roast and flowing beer with monies raised supporting West Oxfordshire disabled children's charity SpecialEffect and the Sobell House Hospice charities.

The centre piece of the weekend is the 45th anniversary black tie ball on Saturday 11, where auction items including F1 experiences, weekend breaks and an autographed England rugby shirt will all be on offer.

Kevin Game of Sobell House commented, 'Sobell House Hospice charity is really excited by the prospect of the Witney Big Weekend. We rely heavily on the support and generosity of our local community and Witney makes up a big part of our supporters.

'It's great that we're able to share the weekend with our supporters and SpecialEffect and would like to thank Witney RFC for their support at the Big Witney Weekend.
