Guide Dogs Volunteer Open Day in Oxford
Guide Dogs is holding a Volunteer Open Day in the Latner Room at St Peter’s College, New Inn Hall Street, Oxford. OX1 2DL on Friday 5 February between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
Members of the public will be able to meet some of the Puppy Walkers during the day and have an opportunity to see some of the Guide Dogs training in the City centre.
Guide Dogs staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer and questions and tell people about some of the wonderful volunteering opportunities at Guide Dogs.
In Oxford more people are needed to volunteer as puppy walkers, who take full-time care of puppies until they are old enough to go into training, and volunteers are also required to join the Oxford Fundraising Branch in various roles.
More information on both roles will be available on the day.
Michelle Thurston, regional volunteering coordinator, from Guide Dogs said: “There are so many ways to volunteer”.
“We’re looking for puppy walkers at the moment – which is a great way to enjoy some of the benefits of dog ownership and help a charity at the same time”.
“All volunteering at Guide Dogs is fun and rewarding – you know you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially-sighted people. We’re really looking forward to the Awareness Day and hope lots of local people come out to support Guide Dogs in Oxford.”
Guide Dogs is almost entirely funded by voluntary donations, and needs support from volunteers to maximise its services for blind and partially-sighted people.
Anyone interested in volunteering or fundraising for Guide Dogs is invited to attend the Volunteer Open Day or contact Guide Dogs’ Volunteering Team on 0845 371 7771 or by emailing volunteer@guidedogs.org.uk
