Arthritis Care Challenging Pain workshop
Arthritis Care, the charity that helps people with all kinds of arthritis in the UK is promoting awareness of its self-management support offered free to people with arthritis and their families.
Arthritis Care helps thousands of people every year who are seeking reliable and practical information, emotional support, or the sharing of experiences to make living with arthritis more bearable. We do this by providing support through a variety of options such as a pain management workshop, an information pack or simply a sympathetic ear to be found at the end of our Free phone telephone helpline or at their local branch.
Arthritis Care is a user-led charity, consulting with its members and supporters as the experts. Consequently Arthritis Care has established itself as the voice of people with arthritis over the last 60 years. It empowers people with arthritis to lead rich and fulfilling lives, to live with their arthritis and not around it.
Arthritis Care South England is offering its free self-management workshop ‘Challenging Pain’ to the first 18 people who register with our office to attend. The workshop is run over two consecutive Wednesdays on 18th and 25th January 2012 starting at 2pm and finishing by 4.45pm. The workshops are delivered by trained volunteers and staff who experience pain on a daily basis as they live with their arthritis. The workshop is to be delivered in Abingdon, specific venue details will be made available on booking.
The workshops provide training in self-management techniques such as relaxation, distraction, coping with the stress of pain, as well as communication skills and information about how to exercise safely for your arthritis.
The workshop will provide people support for people experiencing long term (chronic) pain from other long term conditions such as diabetes, migraine and cancer.
Adults aged 18 and above are welcome to attend the workshop on 18th & 25th January
Booking is essential since place numbers are strictly limited to 18 participants.
