Corporate Social Responsibilty (CSR)

 

Corporate social responsibility; also referred to as corporate responsibility or corporate social investment covers:
  • good employment practices and diversity in the workplace
  • corporate governance
  • fair trading in the market place
  • environmental responsibilities
  • human rights practices
  • community investment (including employer supported volunteering)
Corporate social responsibility could be said to amount to a redefinition of the role of employer organisations. Increasingly, they are expected to, and do, account for their social and environmental impact as well as their financial performance, and make a positive contribution to the communities they work in. The market is compelling companies to make changes, as products and brands and services are judged not only on their quality and pricing but on the reputation of those who produce and provide them.
 
OCVA is keen to assist local employers in their activities to discharge a number of these responsibilities by facilitating engagement with the voluntary and community groups and charities that we support.
