Membership

Who can apply for our membership

Membership of Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action is open to organisations operating in Oxfordshire. Applications are approved at the OCVA Trustees’ meeting six times a year. Benefits will be provided to applicants on a temporary basis while awaiting formal approval.

There are two forms of membership:

Full Membership

Full membership is open to voluntary and community groups operating in Oxfordshire. The benefits of full membership are:

  • voting rights at the OCVA Annual General Meeting and the opportunity to nominate members to the Executive Committee of OCVA
  • a monthly mailing and bi-monthly newsletter containing information about local, regional and national news for the voluntary sector
  • members may contribute material for the monthly mailing, either an article for the newsletter or one A4 sheet of paper free of charge (we do not accept advertisements, job vacancies or volunteering opportunities)
  • county-wide programme of OCVA seminars and training events at reduced rates
  • access to the ROBIN network of local businesses looking for opportunities to collaborate with voluntary and community organisations
  • free funding newsletter and access to expert funding advice
  • use of photocopying facilities at a reduced rate
  • use of OCVA Resource Centre and assistance from OCVA staff in looking for relevant material
  • use of OCVA Meeting Room at a reduced rate (subject to availability)
  • free webspace on oxnet

Associate Membership

Associate membership is open to individuals and to statutory, commercial or academic organisations. This category enables members to use the OCVA Resource Centre and to receive a monthly mailing and bi-monthly newsletter. There will be a charge for material members may want to include in the mailing.

Membership Charge

Voluntary/Community Organisation with income of less than £5,000 a year: FREE!
VCO with income of £5,000 to £250,000 a year and individual members: £25
VCO with income of more than £250,000 a year and commercial/statutory/academic associate members: £75
 

The membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March and there is no reduced rate for joining after 1 April. However, members joining after 1 January will receive up to three months free membership, taking their membership through to 31 March of the following year.
