Meet The Trustees


Helen Baker

Chair of Trustees

Helen has a wealth of experience across the health, social care, housing and education sectors. She co-founded Charity Works, is Deputy Commissioner for Compact, works closely with Common Purpose and is a Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire. Helen has been OCVA Chair of Trustees since December 2010.

   

Martin Connor

Martin worked in social care until 1999. He spent the last decade working in sales and marketing mainly in the media industry, before starting his own sales coaching business in 2010.

 

   

David Young

David Young was an Oxfordshire County Council Chief Officer for around 20 years until he retired in 2003. He was an OCVA Trustee through the 1980s, rejoining on retirement, and chaired the Trustee Board for five years until 2010. 

   


Jim Flux

Jim is a retired and well-travelled businessman. He is Chairman of Cherwell Community & Voluntary Service, and the Carers Centre (N & W Oxon), a charity which he helped to set up as the first centre of its type in England in 1992. He is a local Parish Councillor and runs a day care centre for elderly people in his village. Jim received an MBE in 2008.


Benedict Leigh

Benedict is Chief Executive of Restore, an Oxfordshire mental health charity. He is involved in a range of Oxfordshire community organisations including Oxford Folk Festival and East Oxford Action. He also regularly volunteers with Sense, the leading national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind.

 Kiera Bentley-Mouat

Kiera Bentley-Mouat

Kiera has worked professionally in the charity sector for the last 17 years. She was recently shortlisted for The Charity Times ‘Charity Principal of the Year Award 2011’ and is a Voluntary Committee Member for BBC Children in Need advisory panel, as well as running her own social enterprise consultancy providing unconventional support solutions for disadvantaged people.

 

 
 Julie Baker

Julie Baker

Julie is a marketing professional with Rave Communications. She has a county council, learning and skills and voluntary sector background and has worked for a number of charities in both paid and voluntary roles. These include the Women's Institute's Denman College, where she was Head of Marketing and Communications, the British Red Cross, Mid Devon Council for Voluntary Service and Macmillan Cancer Support. She also has training, coaching and mentoring skills and experience.

 

 
 Colin Smith

Colin Smith

Colin is a member of the Oxfordshire Service User’s Network, which is trying to increase the involvement of service users in the current changes. He lives in Banbury and is a Roman Catholic with a Spiritual outlook on life.

 
Daphne Saunders

Daphne Saunders

Chairman of Faringdon Area Project and Southern Oxfordshire Magistrate, has a local organic farm with pedigree Friesian cows producing milk for Yeo Valley. Daphne’s wish is to have all Oxfordshire school children enjoying good, freshly grown food, purchased from local shops and farms at a sensible price that parents can afford.

Kath Dunn

Kath has worked in the information, advice and guidance sector for 17 years developing services for adults and young people. Kath is looking forward to sharing her passion for developing effective networks which result in great support for people.

Noel Costello

Noel is the Volunteer/ Mentor Coordinator at SMART Drug and Alcohol Service. He has worked in the drug and alcohol treatment field for 7 years, including in criminal justice settings delivering one to one therapeutic interventions and group work. His passion is contributing to people’s personal and professional development and to see them go on to enter their chosen profession.
